Prenuptial Agreements
A prenuptial agreement (also known as a pre-nup) is a formal, written agreement between two partners prior to their marriage. It sets out ownership of all their belongings (including money, assets and property) and explains how it will be divided in the event of the breakdown of their marriage.
Although not legally binding under English Law, prenuptial agreements can be taken into account by a court if your marriage does not work out. By setting out your intentions at the beginning, misunderstandings and disputes can hopefully be minimised in the future, providing you with security and peace of mind.
